April 8th is National Draw A Bird Day, but why draw one when you can print one? For today, Howard letterpress printed an image from small electrotype (copy of a woodcut) from the Bill Gaylord Collection. This cut was made in the 1940s. The image from the cut depicts a bird pulling a worm from the ground illustrating the saying “the early bird gets the worm.” This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852. #SacHistoryMuseum #DrawABirdDay #birds #bird #sacramento #museum #History #letterpress #printingpress #asmr #printing
