March 12th is National Plant A Flower Day! It’s a day to start preparing your garden for spring. For today, Howard letterpress printed a hand carved woodcut from the Lewis Winter Collection that would have been used to make a decorative frame around some text in a print. This was selected because of the flowers included in the frame. This was made sometime in the late 1880s-1890s and “L. WINTER” is in the print. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press. #SacHistoryMuseum #PlantAFlowerDay #flowers #flower #art #sacramento #museum #History #letterpress #printingpress #asmr #printing
