We get a lot of inquiries if we have letterpress printed greeting cards available and we do! Here is our “You are the 🍎 [apple] of my eye” card. This was letterpress printed with red oil base ink using a 3x5 Kelsey Excelsior tabletop printing press. The font is 30 point Stymie Bold Condensed and the electrotype of the apple was made 85-90 years ago and is from the Bill Gaylord Collection. The back of the card includes an image of a Washington hand press and the words “Printed at the Sacramento History Museum.” Fifty cards were printed in this press run. This card and other cards are available in our Museum Store! We thought today, March 11th, was a good day to post this because today is National Johnny Appleseed Day! Born in 1774, John Chapman was a nurseryman who planted apple trees across the Midwest so much he got the nickname Johnny Appleseed. #SacHistoryMuseum #pun #apple #greetingcard #sacramento #museum #historytok #letterpress #printingpress #asmr #printing #typography #print...
