Since we are a museum, we can’t pass this day up. March 2nd is National Old Stuff Day! Much of the equipment that we use in our print shop exhibit (besides some of the new cuts we receive) is original and truly old stuff. For today, Howard letterpress printed “OLD STUFF” set in large wood type that was made in the late 1880s by the Hamilton Wood Type Company. The typeface is French Clarendon. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, made in 1852. #SacHistoryMuseum #NationalOldStuffDay #oldstuff #typography #art #sacramento #museum #History #letterpress #printingpress #asmr #printing
