If you visit our park grounds, you will see we have a lot of California native flora and fauna including some perennial shrubs! In this video, Theresa takes a look at two plants on the park grounds of the State Indian Museum and Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park that belong to the same plant genus, Artemisia. The first plant discussed is Artemisia californica, also known as California sagebrush, and the second is Artemisia douglasiana, known as California mugwort. Theresa also discussed the plants’ distinctive characteristics and traditional California Native uses. Learn more about the native plants on our park grounds at our Celebrate Earth Day event on April 19th! #sagebrush #mugwort #suttersfort #stateindianmuseum #castateparks #history #sacramento #museum #sactiktok
