One of the items tourists like to get when they visit our museum is a postcard. It is a special piece to keep or mail to show where they’ve been. Since many of our visitors watch our videos, we like to keep prints available so they can have something printed from our print shop exhibit, which is our take on the idea of a postcard as a memento. We thought we’d share this video for World Postcard Day (October 1st). In this press run, Jared letterpress printed an image from a modern photo engraving based on a lithograph of Sacramento’s Waterworks building from 1857. Our museum is housed in a reconstruction of that building, which was originally built at the corner of I and Front Streets in 1854. This was printed using a 4x6 Golding Official No. 2 tabletop printing press. About 100 prints were printed on this press run using green rubber base ink. To get a print like this, just mention you watch our videos and you’ll get a print for free as a souvenir! #SacHistoryMuseum #WorldPostcardDay #...
