Did you know there used to be a Japantown in Downtown Sacramento? Sacramento’s Japantown had roots in the West End since the 1880s. Due to internment during the Second World War and later Urban Renewal in the 1960s, there is no longer a Japantown downtown. While we can enjoy a vibrant and changing downtown today, we must remember what may come at a cost for something new.
