We have a new exhibit at the Sacramento History Museum called “Sacramento In A Can,” all about Sacramento’s canning history! To help get the word out about the new exhibit, Howard letterpress printed an electrotype of a newspaper or magazine column of a California Almond Growers Exchange and Blue Diamond ad discussing a recipe for Nob Hill dressing with almonds. This ad was prepared by Chapin-Damm Advertising and was printed in McCall’s magazine in 1955. This electrotype is on loan to us from Maryellen, who helped contribute research and materials for the exhibit. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press. Is it true that almonds make the dish? • • • #newexhibit #almond #almonds #bluediamond #art #powerofthepress #SacHistoryMuseum #sacramento #museum #history #letterpress #printingpress #asmr #printing #oldsacramento #printmaking
