The buildings that we know today in oldsac have changed a lot over the years, not only in looks, but also in the names they went by. Here is a view of K Street between Front and Second Streets as it appeared on May 4, 1878 in Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper. The What Cheer House was known as the Grand Hotel and Ing Boots & Shoes was located in the Howard House. Just east of those buildings stands the Lady Adams, which housed the Branch Saloon, and the Ebner Hotel continued in name but was under different management. Copy of a lithograph of K Street from page 141 of Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper published on May 4, 1878. • • • #TodayInHistory #OnThisDay #ThenAndNow #SacHistoryMuseum #oldsacramento #oldsac #sacviews
