March 1st is National Pig Day! This day honors the domesticated farm animal, who is actually quite intelligent. We are stretching this print and taking some creative liberties today, however. For today, Howard letterpress printed a photo engraving from the Brett from Pennsylvania Collection. This was made in the 1960s and would have been used in a workplace safety manual or magazine. It depicts a worker with a pig’s head and messy workplace, alluding to having a pig sty. The text reads, “Anybody You Know? The guy who doesn’t keep his workplace clean -.” Do you keep a messy office? This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press. • • • #NationalPigDay #pig #pigs #art #powerofthepress #SacHistoryMuseum #sacramento #museum #history #letterpress #printingpress #asmr #printing #printmaking #oldsacramento
