November 16th is National Button Day and we couldn’t think of a better woodcut to print than this one. We received this woodcut almost two years ago from one of our followers, Mark from Melville, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is a woodcut of a phrase that appears in a lot of our print shop videos. For today, Jared letterpress printed that woodcut in Pantone Red Pepper oil base ink. This was printed using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852. For those wondering the origin of the phrase, “Press the red button, Howard,” it started over 2 years ago when Jared first asked Howard if roles could be reversed and he could print something for a video. While recording the video, Howard wondered how and when to stop recording. Jared said, “Press the red button,” referring to the stop button on a phone, and the phrase has stuck ever since. #SacHistoryMuseum #NationalButtonDay #button #woodcut #museumtok #printing #letterpress
