One of the ways we like to stay relevant on social media is to post content that is tied to a specific day. When it comes to videos from our print shop exhibit, “national holidays” help us with highlighting woodcuts, halftones, and electrotypes from our collections. For today, October 10th, Jared letterpress printed an electrotype, made roughly 130 years ago, from the Lewis Winter Collection for National Handbag Day. Much of the cuts in the Winter Collection are of clothing items and accessories because Winter designed cuts for local magazines, catalogues, and newspapers in the late 1880s and 1890s. This was printed using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852. #SacHistoryMuseum #NationalHandbagDay #handbag #museumtok #printing #letterpress
