December 28th is National Card Playing Day! This day encourages individuals to deal out a hand and play a game or two, especially with family and friends still in town for the holidays. For today, Howard letterpress printed the heart, diamond, spade, and clubs card indicators for playing card suits. These are from a handy pack of typographic accessories that were made in the 1920s by the American Type Founders. These are located in the Frank Cowsert Collection. While two should be printed with black ink, this was printed with rhodamine red rubber base ink using our Washington hand press. • • • #CardPlayingDay #playingcards #typography #sachistorymuseum #letterpress #museum #history #sacramento #printing #museumlife #printingpress #asmr #letterpressprinting #printmaking #oldsacramento
