On September 22, 1947, Sacramento State College, now known as California State University, Sacramento, was founded. The original location was not where the university is today, however. Sacramento State College was originally housed on the grounds of Sacramento City College in Land Park before a separate location was built. Sacramento State College opened at 6000 J Street in 1953 with approximately 2,400 students. With many of our staff being current students or alumni, happy 76th birthday Sacramento State from all of us at the Sacramento History Museum! For today, Jared letterpress printed a birthday greeting using two different large wood fonts in our print shop exhibit. This was printed using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” is printed in 12 line pica Antique font and “SAC STATE!” was printed in 6 line pica Gothic Black font. #SacHistoryMuseum #OnThisDay #Sacramento #sacstate #typography #museumtok #getcultured #printing
