We are often asked about the largest print Howard has ever made on our Washington hand press. Our press, made in 1852 by the Charles Foster & Brother Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, was large enough to print two pages of a newspaper in the 1850s. Well, this press hasn’t printed a newspaper in over a century but it can still produce large prints. In this video, Howard discusses the largest print he has made. This is a two color letterpress print (printed once for each color) and it is the size of the bed of the press. Howard made this print almost 15 years ago and we do not possess the two cuts in order make another copy. These cuts were previously used in the 1950s to advertise a former ski resort near Lake Tahoe. #SacHistoryMuseum #getcultured #museumtok #printing #letterpress
