On February 9, 1852, James Lloyd Laffeyette Franklin Warren sold the first camellia flower seeds, from a shipment he received two days prior, at his New England Seed Store on J Street between Front and Second Streets in Sacramento. Warren is credited with introducing camellias to Sacramento. In the 1920s, Sacramento was dubbed the "Camellia City of the World" and in 1941 the camellia became the official flower of the city. In this video, Shawn discusses the location of the New England Seed Store in Old Sacramento and the agricultural impact James L.L.F. Warren had on California. #SacHistoryMuseum #sacramento #camellia #sactiktok #museum #oldsacramento
