October 3rd is World Architecture Day! Sacramento is well-known for its architecture with our city’s downtown and midtown areas home to many historic districts containing a variety of architectural styles from the late 1800s through the 1930s. However, when it comes to our collection of cuts in our print shop exhibit, we do not have many buildings and much of them are unidentified. In this video, Howard printed nice woodcut of a building, but we, unfortunately, do not know much of the history of this woodcut. It is from the Eleanor McClatchy Collection and at one point it was cut down and recycled so an image could be carved on the other side. We do not know the building depicted in the print. #worldarchitectureday #architecture #SacHistoryMuseum #andGO #museum #letterpress #printingpress #sacramento
