Life of pie. (dominiqueansel’s pie night is always the highlight of my fall but tonight’s event truly brought all the feels! First, this warm chocolate and pear pie took me back to my time working at restaurantdaniel in 2012 which was shortly after Chef Dominque left but while his chocolate coulants were still on the menu. I would barter whatever I could from the savory side to get one as often as possible. They had a crisp chocolate sable crust filled with a warm molten chocolate cake and fleur de sel caramel similar to this pie sans caramel and adorned with poached pears. Needless to say, I had three slices of this beauty. Second, it was at pie night exactly one year ago that Chef offered to make our wedding cake after we had recently gotten engaged. Here we are one year later, a few days after the wedding and still swooning over the incredible cake he made.
