When I left the city law firm 11 years ago to start a creative career, the idea of being an actual artist was really just a flight of fancy, especially as I was on my own with a baby and a toddler. My original plan was actually to be an interior designer, as I thought that was more likely to earn me money. But a couple of years later I was browsing in a gift shop when I started chatting to the owner, who also had an art gallery downstairs and I mentioned that I had always dreamed of being an artist.
