The very first marks of the very first sketch for my new collection! Each painting starts with lots of rough sketches like this, as I study the form of the bird and work out how to get the movement and intention I want for that particular painting. I gradually refine the sketches until I make a final one, with the spirit and flight of the bird just right. Then I work on light and shade and the context and only once that is all finalized do I start working on the colour. Look out for more posts as I progress. I have to say I am in heaven at the moment - kids are spending the day with their dad and I’m on my own in my parents’ beautiful garden sketching in the sun in a bikini! . . #annajacobs #annajacobsart #annajacobsdesign #art #drawing #sketching #sketch #artist #artisatwork #bird #birdsofinstagram #flying #freedom #focus #garden #summer #sun #bliss #design
