Despite his position of power and authority, King Benjamin always showed humility and gratitude to God throughout his reign. In his address to the people of Nephi, King Benjamin said: “I have not commanded you to come up hither that ye should fear me, or that ye should think that I of myself am more than a mortal man. But I am like as yourselves, subject to all manner of infirmities in body and mind; yet I have been chosen … to serve you with all the might, mind and strength which the Lord hath granted unto me” (Mosiah 2:10–11). King Benjamin understood and acknowledged that everything he had been given was from God. A recognition of God’s greatness gave him the perspective to serve alongside the people rather than over them. King Benjamin was known among his people for demonstrating Christlike character, even until the end of his reign. How can we show our humility and gratitude to God like King Benjamin? #bookofmormon #KingBenjamin #scriptureverse #scripturehero
