Learn more about the Coca-Cola Paint the Nation mural at Evergreen Recreation Center in Los Angeles, created in celebration of America250. Inspired by conversations with community members, the artist Juan Navarro developed a mural that reflects Los Angeles through familiar imagery, including the LA skyline at sunset, palm trees, and the loquat tree. The mural also draws on LA’s street art and graffiti culture while highlighting the stories of the people who call the city home. For the artist, a first-generation immigrant, the project became an opportunity to celebrate community, creativity, and the American experience through public art.
