Working smoke alarms save lives by providing critical time to escape a fire. Last Saturday, the MFMD Community Outreach Team, in partnership with ArizonaBurnFoundation, and an army of more than 70 volunteers came together for a smoke alarm walk in the Greenfield Village Resort community. Volunteers walked through the neighborhood to replace batteries and install new smoke alarms when needed. They also talked to residents about maintaining clear walkways, reducing fire and home safety hazards, and the importance of having an emergency plan in place. By the end of the day, volunteers checked off smoke alarm maintenance in more than 200 homes - reducing the risk of house fires and saving lives!
