Just finished my first class session for 🎤The Art of Rhyme🎤 for my middle school students this semester. Lots of returning stusents from last semester but it's nice to see some new faces. . . One of my main objectives is helping students figure out WHY they like the music they do. They be like "I like ____" & I'm like okay cool, Why? And it's a lot of "idk, cause they good" . . Getting into the elements of rap (rhymes and rhyme scheme, rhythm, storytelling, being real, etc) hopefully will help them narrow down on reasons. When I probe deeper, they know a lot and have some great opinions to share.
