Mole Day is Saturday, October 23 ⚛️
Did you know 1 mole (6.02*10^23) is the number of atoms in exactly 12.00 g of carbon? "We cannot work with a single atom of carbon, but it is quite easy to work with 12.00 g of carbon. Thus, the mole becomes the chemist's practical unit for the amount of a substance," said Dr. John Morrison Galbraith, Chair of the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physics.
Since mole day falls on a Saturday this year, chemistry club members celebrated millimole day on Wednesday, October 20, at 6:02 am, with a toast of 1 mole of water (about 18 g).
