The Shoes on the Danube Bank is a memorial in Budapest. The film director Can Togay created it on the east bank of the Danube River to honor the people who were killed by fascist Arrow Cross militiamen during World War II. They were ordered to take off their shoes, and were shot at the edge of the water. The lives of over 20,000 Jewish human beings were taken during 1944-1945. . . . . . #danube #jewish #memorial #sadstory #arrowcross #travelstories #lifestories #life #ww2 #honor #loves #passions #feelings #sadstories #truestories #truths #sorrow #pain #wrong #freedom #notright #tuesday
