The Southern Nevada Health District reported a record level of mosquito activity in the Las Vegas Valley, with 16 zip codes testing positive for West Nile Virus. As of June 6, their Mosquito Surveillance Program found 91 pools, totaling 3,081 mosquitoes, infected with the virus. Additionally, two pools with 46 mosquitoes tested positive for the virus causing St. Louis encephalitis. The spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, known for biting during the day and preferring humans, has contributed to these numbers. This is the first time they have tested positive for West Nile Virus in Clark County. Although most people bitten by infected mosquitoes do not develop symptoms, about one in five will experience fever and other symptoms, and one in 150 may develop severe neurological conditions. #realvegaslocals #lasvegas #lasvegasstrip #lasvegasblvd #vegas #vegaslocals #vegaslife #lasvegaslocals #lasvegaslocal #vegasborn #summerlin #henderson #hendersonnv #downtownlasvegas #eastfremont #n...
