When my child was born six weeks early after a failed induction and an emergency c-section, life became complicated from day one. He was whisked away to ICU and then special care - no skin to skin and my first sight of him was a photo on my husband’s phone.
When I was discharged, he didn’t get to come home with me. For weeks.
Devastating.
On top of that, I struggled with breastfeeding - my milk never fully came in. I did everything I was told: hot showers, looking at photos of him (because he wasn’t with me), expressing every two hours etc etc etc.
Horrendous.
The physical and emotional toll was huge, and it broke me in ways I didn’t expect. 💔
I don’t want any parent to feel that alone or unsupported.
