Thanks atriabooks #partner for the ARC 👉🏽 Review 👈🏽 This is a satire and a mystery thriller. It started as a slow burn as Nella’s life as the only Black person at Wagner Books was described. I did love that the story took place in The Publishing Industry. Once the “Other Black Girl” Hazel is hired it appears she will have an ally. She even has someone to talk natural hair care with. Then the unexpected happens as Hazel becomes elevated in the company and Nella is being pushed out… but by who?!! Could it be ?!! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough in the second half of the book.
