On this day in 2008 🥇 12 years ago today, Michael Phelps cemented his legacy as the greatest swimmer of all-time and perhaps the greatest Olympian of all-time as he won his eighth gold medals of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, eclipsing Mark Spitz's record of seven golds at a single Olympic Games. He needed gold in the 4x100 meter medley relay, which he and his fellow Americans delivered emphatically, breaking their own world record in the process. . . . #olympics #beijing2008 #olympics2008 #michaelphelps m_phelps00 #olympicswimming #swimming (📷Adam Pretty/Getty Images; Carl de Souza/AFP via Getty Images; Timothy Clary/AFP via Getty Images)
