In 2016 I became thenzteam Olympian #1366 at the Rio Olympic Games. 🖤🌿🤍 At the time of the games, I was so upset that we didn’t win gold and came second. Long story short, as I walked through the village with my Olympic silver medal around my neck, an athlete stopped me from another country, he said “ can I please hold your medal?” I said “sure” then as he was holding it with a big smile on his face he looked up at me and asked “why are you so sad?” I said “well I wanted to win gold but got silver” he looked me straight in the eye and said something that changed my perspective and mindset from that day on, he said “ this is my 4th Olympics and I have won no medals, I have been training and competing for 20+ years and have nothing, what I would do for this medal” 🥹😩❤️ Damn that hit home and now even more so after missing the Tokyo Olympics due to injury, I always am proud to say I am an olympic silver medalist 🥈 A memory I’ll never forget, a moment no one can ever take from me...
