Virginia Legaile is one of 12 noncommunicable disease (
#NCD) coordinators in
#SolomonIslands 🇸🇧. She leads a specialized NCD clinic where patients receive holistic assessments and care plans, but her work in the community extends outside the office. Virginia also started a garden on hospital grounds and shares seeds 🌱, vegetables 🥕, gardening skills 🌼 and nutrition knowledge with her patients.
Virginia's clinic is part of the Solomon Islands Package of Essential Noncommunicable Disease (SolPEN) programme, a systems-based initiative developed by WHO and Solomon Islands’ Ministry of Health. SolPEN enables government health facilities to identify people who have NCDs and to treat them effectively.
