One year ago today @who’s Dr Richard Mouzoko was killed while doing life-saving work as part of the #Ebola response in #DRC. He left behind a wife and 4 young children. It was a tragic loss for them and for the world.
Dr Richard served as an example to all who had the privilege of working with him. His courageous colleagues have continued to work to end the outbreak, and to honour his memory. Thanks to them we’ve made huge progress containing it.
Too many #healthworkers have lost their lives while trying to save others. Health care is #NotATarget. The principle of medical neutrality must be respected by all. Attacks on health care are attacks on humanity.
The anniversary of Dr Richard’s death falls on the orthodox Easter holiday, when many people around the world celebrate new beginnings. I am thinking of Dr Richard and of his beautiful family today as, I know, many of you are as well.
