Three Cold War icons, three visions of speed and strategy ✈️ which is your favorite?
🇫🇷 Dassault Milan (1960s) — a Mirage III experiment with canards, testing agility before delta-canard fighters became the norm. Never entered service, but helped shape later Dassault designs.
🇬🇧🇩🇪 Panavia Tornado IDS (1970s) — the multinational swing-wing strike jet built for low-level penetration. Rugged, fast, and still flying in some air forces 50 years later.
🇸🇪 Saab 35 Draken (1950s) — the “Dragon.” First European supersonic fighter, with its unique double-delta wing proving Scandinavian innovation could rival the superpowers.
Each one pushed design limits in its decade—and taught lessons that echo in modern jets like the Rafale, Typhoon, and Gripen.
