When Bill Cunningham died on Saturday, June 25th, 2016, it was a sad day for many. I found out on social media. The interview I had done with him 23 years prior and hadn’t watched since was packed away in my basement. My young son and I went into our basement and found the large Betacam tapes. I had to bump them up to a digital file since Betacam players were nearly non-existent. When I sat and watched the hours of video of the interview, done in his best friend’s Suzette Cimino’s Carnegie Hall Studio - (his studio was too small and dark) - I decided right then to teach myself how to edit on Final Cut Pro. In parallel I had to figure how out, like most doc film makers, how to fund it. With thanks to some of the people who believed another doc about Bill should be done, like @susanrockefeller, @thombeers, @stephanemarsil @thomasjhilfiger , @mrshilfiger , and especially Brendan and Katherine FitzGerald, it got made and released February 2020.
