VPS Lakeshore Hospital conducted the IONM (intraoperative neuromonitoring) workshop at the Asia Pacific Thyroid Society 2023 conference on March 28, 2023. The principal international faculty member was Professor Feng Yu Chiang, Director of APTS. The faculty included doctors Anuja Deshmukh and Parthiban Velayutham from Tata Memorial Hospital. Delegates from different countries participated in the conference. Prof. Fing Chiang presented the new developments in IONM during thyroid surgery. Dr Shawn T Joseph presented the VPS Lakeshore Head and Neck Department data on thyroid cancer and how radioactive iodine can be avoided in the majority of patients with thyroid cancer in the debate on the topic against Prof. Chandrasekhar Bal, HOD Nuclear Medicine Dept., All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
