In 1974, two decades before the Highwaymen recorded robertearlkeen1’s "The Road Goes on Forever", a young Keen drove up to Texas World Speedway just south of College Station for willienelsonofficial’s 2nd annual Fourth of July Picnic. As the story goes, about 40 cars burned in the parking lot during the festival, Keen's included. To this day REK tells the tale of the Picnic, his car, and his date - who ended up leaving with two men who were "terminally tan and wearing loincloths". Some 20 years later, it all came full circle when the Highwaymen released his song. ∙ Tune in tomorrow night at 6pm ct for Episode 3 of #primecuts to hear songs and stories from robertearlkeen1 live while chefs Mason Hereford of turkeyandthewolf, ryanfivefour of blackbirdchicago and mixologist abigailgullo of benparisseattle teach us a thing or two in the kitchen.
