While roaming in the blistering heat of Arizona (and I literally mean blistering heat) I took on one of the most challenging trails I have hiked to date. The length was more than doable (3 miles round trip) however, about a half mile into the trail it suddenly drops off into a big canyon. Originally staring at the big drop below wondering how they expected me to get down there I almost called it quits. That is until I found an area to stair step down the pancake columns to the ground below. I had to do this several more times and got my foot eaten by a mud pit before making it to the Colorado River.
