The best way to study the different classes of drugs? Study the group as a whole, then study what's different about each drug.
For example, at a high level know how beta blockers work. But then, look at what makes them different - ie. cardioselectivity.
This was the advice from pharm queen crna_scientist Professor Temmermand during one of our most recent pharm lectures for our Accelerator students.
Makes sense.
Instead of memorizing each drug individually, work to understand how the entire class functions, and then focus on the nuances that set each drug apart, whether that is side effect, duration of action, or specific receptor type.
Studying pharm for your CRNA school interview is a lot, but focus on the drugs you use on YOUR unit.
My favorite "downer" is Nicardipine, what's yours? 😏
