Father’s Day is a tough one for so many dads, their kids, their friends. We culturally make a lot out of it and I know there are a large number of folks who struggle as they justify and contextualize their familial relationships. I worshipped my dad, still do, and so much of who I am is thanks to him. I’m so grateful for most of it. Now that I’m a dad I have a lot better understanding about the stuff that I still try to be grateful for. It’s taken 60+ years on this earth to forgive and be appreciative for it all. Dads make mistakes. I know I have. The pics of me and my son are a few years old but some of my favorites. He’s comforting me in one, in another we are standing tall together, others are metaphorically about him being on his own. Did I do enough for him? Did i set a good example of being a kind, curious, generous and compassionate man?
