Join me,
@kvaroyarctic, and
@hedleyandbennett in celebrating National Seafood Month by learning more about BLUE FOODS and their role in fighting nutritional injustice in the U.S.—an issue very close to my
heart.Blue foods already brings healthy nutrients to 3 billion people. There are nutritious and diverse foods that come from any of Earth’s bodies of water, whether they be streams or rivers, or wetlands, lakes, seas, or oceans—and they include finfish, shellfish, seaweeds, and other sea vegetables. When these foods are responsibly caught or harvested, they can help restore the health of our economy, our bodies, and our planet. il
So how do we make sure blue foods are available for generations to come? By:
✅ Improving wild fisheries management and fishing practices
✅ Innovating with cleaner tech, using fewer resources to grow and harvest blue foods
✅ Maintaining and creating decent livelihoods for our water fishers, farmers, and harvesters
