Ending food waste is a cause close to my heart. It’s responsible for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. It costs the average American family about $1,200 per year, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). And as a companion problem around 811 million people worldwide go to bed hungry each night. That’s just not right. We CAN end food waste, but we have to choose to do it. As a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations World Food Program, it’s my mission to solve this problem. But first, people need to know the problem even exists.
