BREAKING NEWS! I wanted to share with everybody a small victory for the immigrant workers that were featured in the premiere episode of #WhatsEatingAmerica. On April 2018, the Southeastern Provision plant was the subject of a workplace immigration raid by ICE. Food workers and others like them are racially profiled and subject to unlawful arrests at a much greater rate than other workers. This new settlement confirms that they were subject to egregious labor exploitation, including wage theft and unsafe working conditions, spanning many years according to @splcenter. Workers will receive a settlement of over $600,000 in stolen and unpaid wages from the plant. This ongoing case highlights the abuses and exploitation that migrant, immigrant and undocumented workers face every day putting food on our tables.
