Today marks a monumental day for the Unofficial Mayor of Mason initiative! I am proud to announce the appointment of Lucas Cedeno Villegas as the Unofficial Deputy Mayor of Mason for the 2026-2027 academic year! Lucas is an outstanding member of the George Mason University community whose energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to building connections make him an excellent addition to this unofficial administration. As the Unofficial Mayor of Mason, I believe in bringing people together, celebrating the people who make our community special, and creating opportunities to connect students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members throughout Fairfax and Northern Virginia. I am confident that Lucas will help expand those connections, engage new stakeholders, and continue uplifting the people who make Mason such a special place. The video is completely unedited because I wanted to capture the genuine emotion of this moment. Sometimes, the best memories don’t need a polished production....
