Here’s a brief description of my color grading process. I’ll eventually go more in depth on YouTube but I wanted to try out a longer form post here first.
•
So what is color grading? Color grading is what you do when you shoot in a log profile. Log profiles are just flatter greyed out images (the first clip) where the camera can consume more color information. This is usually done so you can go and get more colorful videos when editing.
•
So I first converted my log footage from S-Log 3 to a normal sRGB color space. This gives you “normal” footage to work with as you can see in the second clip. From there that’s where your creativity can take off.
•
In the third clip I adjusted the clip’s temperature and saturation to get a warmer more colorful look.
•
And finally in the 4th I added some Offset and made a S Curve.
•
All edited with Davinci resolve 18 and I used 5 nodes. The Davinci workspace really is the best way to color grade with the most possibilities.
