Demolition of Fort Myers Beach Elementary due to catastrophic damage from Hurricane Ian's storm surge is underway in preparation for reopening this fall. "The other buildings took water on up to and over the roof," said Jeff Wagner, chief operating officer for the Lee County School District. "We forged a path forward that will give students a home here at Fort Myers Beach Elementary."
