@repebj has served Texas’ 30th Congressional District with pride since 1992. Since her election, she has made history many times over, and has proven to be one of the most effective members of Congress during her tenure. She is the first Black woman to serve as Chief Psychiatric Nurse at the Dallas Veterans Administration Hospital, the first registered nurse ever elected to Congress and the first Black woman to Chair the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. She is the Dean of the Texas Delegation and served as the 17th Chair for the Congressional Black Caucus.
