Cricket cookies, anyone? Or how about sweet spiced apple chutney with poached waxworms or snackable crispy cajun crickets that taste like a barbecue sunflower seed? If these treats are making your skin crawl, you’re not alone, but our fearless local editor lizprovencher took one for the team and visited Bug Appetit inside of New Orleans’ new Audubon Aquarium to see if their insect cafe held up to the test.
Audubon Aquarium was recently revamped with a butterfly garden, insectarium, and the aforementioned insect cafe so visitors can get up close and personal with the bugs, and eat some too.
At Bug Appetit, there’s no shortage of protein-packed insect snacks like waxworms, crickets, and other edible species that come with a heavy side of bragging rights. Are you brave enough to toss back some creepy crawlers? Learn more at our link in bio.
