In Kenya, over 6,000 women die during childbirth every year. Many can’t access quality healthcare and others don’t know where or when to seek care. UBS Global Visionaries, Nick Pearson and Sathy Rajasekharan, are helping change that with jacarandamaternity. Now working with 20 Kenyan County governments, Jacaranda Health has created an online platform full of helpful information and advice for expecting mothers (called Prompts). And they’ve designed a nationwide programme that equips nurses with life-saving skills for pregnancy and birth (called Mentors). Nick and Sathy have helped over one million mothers and thousands of nurses and midwives. And they’ve done it at over 1,000 health facilities.
