The Solid State Relay (SSR) is an electronic device which transmits electricity to the heating element by an input of the CPU board.
💡
Unlike a traditional relay, the SSR has no moving parts, but instead, is a large semiconductor with two sets of connections. Because it has no moving parts, the number of times it can switch are almost infinite, making it ideal for a PID system which requires switching several times per minute.
Our SSR is provided with a syringe of thermal paste which helps dissipate heat.
SSRs develop heat as an effect of the current passing between high-tension connections. Temperature affects the amount of current an SSR can withstand. The thermal paste helps to dissipate that heat to the stainless steel electronic box, in outcome providing a longer lifespan.
